// The Vision
The Valley has the talent.
It's never had the launchpad.
1.4 million people live in the Rio Grande Valley. The hustle is here. The ideas are here. But the infrastructure to turn those ideas into companies? It doesn't exist.
No accelerators. No coworking spaces for builders. No angel network. No VC presence. Top talent leaves for Austin, Houston, and DFW — and never comes back. buildrgv is here to change that.
Read the Manifesto// The Problem
An ecosystem that
doesn't exist yet.
Every year, the Valley's best and brightest leave. They go to Austin, Houston, Dallas, and beyond. They build careers at companies that have nothing to do with the place they came from. Not because they wanted to leave — but because there was nothing here to stay for.
The Valley has always had the hustle. What it's never had is someone building the infrastructure — the programs, the spaces, and the funding — to turn that hustle into real companies.
// What We're Building
A startup ecosystem,
built from scratch.
We're not waiting for someone else to do it. buildrgv is a four-phase plan to create the startup infrastructure the Valley deserves — one step at a time.
One-day experiences where anyone — students, entrepreneurs, curious minds — can build a real app using AI. No coding experience needed. These events prove demand, build community, and identify the people who are serious about building. Every ecosystem starts with a room full of people who give a damn.
Structured programs for the builders who want to go deeper. Weekly lessons, mentorship, and peer accountability. Participants don't just learn — they ship. By the end of six weeks, every cohort member has a real product, not a prototype. Culminates in Demo Day, where they present to the community.
A physical home for builders in the Valley. Dedicated coworking for cohort members and alumni. This is the ingredient that makes ecosystems work — the “scene.” People bump into each other, collaborate over lunch, share ideas at the whiteboard. Austin has it. SF has it. The Valley is about to.
Demo Days become pitch events. The best ideas from cohorts get angel funding. We build a track record of venture-backed companies from the Valley — and attract outside VCs who want deal flow from one of the most underserved markets in Texas. A pipeline of fundable companies, built right here.
// The Flywheel
Each phase fuels
the next.
This isn't a collection of disconnected programs. It's a flywheel — every piece accelerates everything else.
Build Days attract builders
Events prove demand and surface talent from across the Valley.
Best builders join Cohorts
Structured 6-week programs turn potential into product.
Cohorts produce companies
Real products ship. Demo Day showcases them to the community.
Companies get funded
Angel investment and VC deal flow from a curated pipeline.
Funded companies hire locally
Jobs stay in the Valley. Talent stops leaving.
More people want to build
Success stories inspire the next wave. The flywheel spins faster.
// Why Now
The window is
wide open.
You no longer need a CS degree to build software. AI tools let anyone go from idea to working product in hours, not months. The barrier to entry just disappeared.
Cloud infrastructure, open-source tools, and AI mean the cost of building and launching a product has dropped to nearly zero. A laptop and an idea is enough.
Companies can be built anywhere now. You don't need to be in San Francisco or Austin to build something that matters. The Valley is a feature, not a limitation.
The Rio Grande Valley is one of the fastest-growing regions in Texas. The population, the energy, and the ambition are already here. What's missing is the infrastructure.
